MMV Climate Tech invests in companies across the US and Canada.
Stage
We invest in early-stage companies at the Seed, Series A, and Series B stages. We can lead or co-lead Seed and Series A investments and typically participate as a value-added investor in Series B rounds. We seek to build long-term relationships with founders, reserve capital for follow-on investments, and connect our portfolio companies to the MassMutual ecosystem.
Process
Our diligence process is collaborative and tailored to each company’s technology, business model, and stage. Assuming timely access to information and your team, the process typically takes four to six weeks. We begin with an introductory conversation and, if there appears to be a mutual fit, work with founders to evaluate the following areas:
Product
Product demonstration, technical differentiation, and roadmap
Financials
Funding history, cap table, historical and projected financials, unit economics, and capital requirements
Technology
Technical validation, data and AI capabilities, and deployment risks
Regulation
Permitting, licensing, and regulatory requirements, where relevant
Market
Customer needs, competition, and market dynamics
Customers
Customer references, pipeline, and contracts
Sales
Go-to-market strategy, partnerships, and customer acquisition
Team
Key team members and hiring plans
