"Venture capital gives you the opportunity to build relationships with incredible founders and help them achieve their vision to improve the way we live."

What inspires you about venture capital?

It’s incredible to witness how rapidly novel solutions can be incorporated into our day to day lives. Venture capital enables you to not only have a front row seat to the development, integration, and growth of these innovations, but also gives you the opportunity to build relationships with incredible founders and help them achieve their vision to improve the way we live.

What strengths do you bring to the companies you partner with?

I speak their language. As a scientist who has taken research off the bench and into the tech transfer office, I understand how complex the patent process is and the opportunities that are often overlooked. In me, founders have an advocate for transformational innovation with deep domain knowledge.

Which tech trend are you most excited by and why?

Datafication in healthcare. While a plethora of data has been generated over the past few years, the ability to curate and structure this data in a uniform and accessible way while managing GDPR is still a challenge. There are many great minds at work on this problem, and I can’t wait to back them.

Podcast or publication?

Podcast. I've recently been recommended the “Translating Aging” podcast and I’m hooked. This podcast balances both the reality and dream of longevity. Can we crack it in our generation?

It’s a Saturday afternoon, where can we find you and what are you up to?

I’ve recently re-serviced my bike that I’ve had since my Oxford days, so I’ll be trying to make it go the extra mile as I discover the quiet streets of London.
